Vance Phillips was born in Florence, Alabama (also, the birthplace of Percy Sledge and Sam Phillips from Sun Records.) He graduated from North Shore High School in 1987, and the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in 1992.
Vance was very lucky to have parents that were into all the latest “hip” tunes (which at that time were the 70’s and 80’s). They also shared a love for the “oldies” (again, these were songs from the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s) which they passed along to him at a very early age. “I should have known that I was always going to be a D.J. I had a jukebox in my bedroom when I was 8 or 9 years old," Vance says.
His early career had him working as a D.J. in dance clubs and nightclubs, he was also a producer and board operator at WPBR 1340AM, but only on an intern basis. “Everyone knows what being an intern means. It means that I didn’t get paid!”
When he's not on the air, Vance loves to check out the Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Braves and Miami Heat. He's also a major fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. ROLL TIDE ROLL!
Vance lives with his wife Lori and 2 daughters in West Palm Beach.
