Rick came to South Florida the second Sunday of May in 1960 and has grown up on the air with several generations since. Rick started at WCKR (Now WIOD) doing the 6-midnight shift. In 1963 a change format caused a move to AM rocker WQAM. One year later, he pulled the largest rating share in the history of the market. A 54 share in the Hooper audience measurement survey. It was at that time he moved to WQAM, and took over as host took over as host of "Saturday Hop", a weekly teen oriented TV show on Channel 10.
In 1965, he added "The Rick Shaw Show" to the Monday through Friday Channel 10 lineup. It was essentially the MTV of the 60's playing Rock and Roll on television. Through most of the 70's, Rick was programming WAXY 106 for RKO. As Majic 102.7 ascended to the position of dominant station for 60's & 70's in the market, Rick made the logical move and joined the Majic 102.7 team. He met the Beatles in 1964 and also flew in an F-18 with the Blue Angels.
Although he's retired as the co-host of the Majic morning show, Rick is still a part of the Majic family and continues to serve as the President of the
Majic Children's Fund.
