2/18 2012 Walk for the Animals
 

2012 Walk for the Animals Presented by PetSupermarket

Join our fuzzy friends for a morning filled with lots of paws and tails! Enjoy scenic Bayfront Park in downtown Miami along with activities, demonstrations and entertainment all to benefit the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet. It’s all for the 2,500 animals that make their temporary home at the Humane Society of Greater Miami each year.

Walk for the Animals, presented by Pet Supermarket, is a great day for the entire family! The Walk is the only fundraising walk-a-thon for dogs and their owners in Miami-Dade County.

This year’s Grand Marshall is Commissioner Sally A. Heyman, District 4, Miami-Dade County and University of Miami Associate Vice President & Controller Theresa L. Ashman is “Leader of the Pack.” NBC6 meteorologist, Ryan Phillips, will emcee the event.

The Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet is dedicated to placing every dog and cat in our care into a loving home, and to promoting responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter programs.

2/25 Miccosukee Country Club – The Third Annual Golf for Hope

Feb. 25 – Miccosukee Country Club – the third annual Golf for Hope, Haiti. Proceeds go to help children in Haiti with necessary supplies with all monies raised being channeled through United States charities which distribute the supplies directly to the needy children, bypassing any governmental agency in Haiti. The goal of Walk MS is to create awareness, raise funds for local programs and cutting edge research for a cure!  The National MS Society, South Florida Chapter is one chapter that supports 10 counties with over 6,000 people with MS.  While it’s free to sign up for the walk, we encourage our participants to set a fundraising goal of $50 to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis.  Your efforts will also help support our communities by:

  • Offering most programs and services at no charge.
  • Providing durable medical equipment and assistive devices to those in need.
  • Offering an extensive case management program, crisis financial assistance and vocational rehabilitation services inclusive of ADA, disability and vocational counseling.
  • Coordinating educational programs featuring clinical experts, emotional and physical health programs such as support groups, aquatics, tai chi and yoga.
  • Organizing Women’s Retreat, Men’s Day and Kid’s Camp.
  • Proving referrals to other community resources and 5 affiliated comprehensive facilities.

WATCH THE 84th ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDSON THE BIG SCREEN AT CINEMA PARADISO (Fort Lauderdale, FL) January 19, 2011 - Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLiFF) rolls out the red carpet for the 84th Annual Academy Awards® on Sunday, February 26 at Cinema Paradiso. Experience all the excitement in hi-def and Dolby sound on the bigger than life movie screen inside the theater or outside in the courtyard.
